The Cook 1 at Cocotte Bistro is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s standards and recipes. This role requires strong culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining consistency and excellence in execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present menu items according to Cocotte Bistro standards and recipes
- Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all dishes served
- Set up and maintain workstation with proper mise en place
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines at all times
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to the Sous-Chef or Chef
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries properly
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service operations
- Adhere to portion control and minimize food waste
- Support junior kitchen staff when required
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a professional kitchen (preferably in a bistro or French cuisine setting)
- Culinary diploma or equivalent experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen operations
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
