POSITION SUMMARY
The Painter is responsible for completing tasks as assigned by the Manager of Environmental Services. The Painter is responsible for preparing various surfaces, drywall repair and replacement, and applying paint. Demonstrated commitment to safety, detail and efficiency is essential for this position. The painter exhibits a strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prioritizing work, completing assigned work orders and working independently
- Preparing work projects by assessing operational and safety risks and assembling required supplies, tools, and equipment
- Preparation of surfaces to be painted, minor drywall repairs/replacement, and additional prep work, including masking, taping, patching, caulking, sanding, scraping
- Removal of fixtures and other items from walls, set up ladders as needed
- Perform painting tasks on walls, ceilings, trim, and other substrates.
- Apply water-based coatings using brushing and rolling
- Maintain a clean and organized job site
- Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to safety protocols and regulations
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively
- Operate from step ladders, extension ladders (including up to 40’)
- Complete work orders as assigned in a timely manner
- Respond in accordance with the Emergency Preparedness Plan
- Observe safety regulations, practices and codes, maintain a safe work environment
- Maintain a positive and harmonious relationship with all members of the Fairhaven community
- Participate in in-service education as required
- Implement a safety culture within area of responsibility by ensuring residents and staff
- Comply with all aspects and regulations related to the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Fairhaven’s Health and Safety policies and procedures, and other governing bodies
- Perform all other duties as assigned. This role involves working in a dynamic environment with varying demands, including exposure to cleaning agents and communicable diseases, managing conflict, and interacting with residents with changing health conditions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position as detailed in the “Physical Demands Analysis” document for the position
- Minimum three (3) years Commercial painting and drywall experience, both indoor and outdoor painting
- Knowledge of drywall repairs and replacement, including removal of fixtures and other items from walls and ceilings
- Ability to prioritize, complete assigned work orders and work independently in a team environment
- Able to work from step ladders and extension ladders (including up to 40 feet)
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Assertive with effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong focus on quality and attention to detail
- Proficient computer skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Climate controlled indoor environment with some exposure to outdoor weather conditions
- Lifting, climbing, reaching, bending as needed to prepare and paint required surfaces
- Working at heights
- Available to work shifts and weekends as required
