We're seeking an experienced freelance translator to translate a defined set of HR and operational documents from English into Canadian French (français québécois). This is a one-time, project-based engagement delivered against agreed milestones. You'll work independently, on your own schedule, using your own professional methods.
-
Approximately 20,000–25,000 words across employment policies, employee handbook, and operational materials
- Source documents provided in English; delivery in Canadian French (français québécois), formal register (vouvoiement)
- Documents are employee-facing and some are legally significant (e.g., policies that must comply with the Charter of the French Language), so accuracy and appropriate terminology are essential
- Delivered in batches against a milestone schedule we'll agree on together
-
Native or near-native Canadian French (français québécois)
- Professional translation experience, ideally with HR, employment, or corporate content
- OTTIAQ, ATIO, or equivalent credential strongly preferred
- Consistent terminology and attention to formatting
- Operates as an established freelance business or sole proprietor (own business number an asset)
- Able to maintain confidentiality (a mutual NDA will be executed before documents are shared)
-
Independent contractor agreement with defined scope and milestones
- Quote as a flat project rate or per-word — please include your rate when applying
- Please note your typical turnaround for a project of this size
