Position Overview:
North Star Contracting is seeking an experienced and reliable Digger Truck Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in utility construction and be proficient in operating a variety of heavy equipment. This role requires a high level of safety awareness, technical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Our Shallow Utilities division is an approved City of Calgary contractor with a variety of city projects in its portfolio. Each member of North Star’s management team has over 25 years of solid industry experience, guaranteeing the highest quality of product and service. North Star has proven to be a successful deep utility service company capable of handling large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities:
· Operate a digger truck safely and efficiently on job sites
· Install screw pile (SL) bases, telecom pads, and power infrastructure
· Perform equipment inspections and routine maintenance
· Work collaboratively with crew members to complete projects on schedule
· Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company standards
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Valid Class 3 Driver’s License
· Clean Driver’s Abstract (required)
· Minimum 3 years of experience operating a digger truck
· Proven experience installing SL bases, telecom pads, and power infrastructure
· Ability to operate backhoes and mini excavators
· Strong understanding of utility construction practices
· Excellent attention to safety and detail
· Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments
