As an Administrative Assistant you will:
Provide administrative services and program support for Vancouver Home Hospital Palliative Care Service.
Act as a receptionist, create and maintain client records and Physician On Call schedule and organize and process palliative care services applications as well as the educational activities of the service.
Perform word processing and transcription duties such as:
arranging, attending and taking minutes of meetings,
maintaining and compiling statistics,
assisting with research and other special projects,
setting up and maintaining electronic and paper filing systems,
and receiving incoming/outgoing material.
Maintaining timekeeping records for team members and inventory of program supplies, assisting with research and other special projects, performing a variety of administrative/clerical, and engaging in on-going team planning, development, evaluation and quality improvement activities.

Education & Experience
Grade 12 supplemented with an approved Medical Office Assistant/Secretarial program and three (3) years’ recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of and proficiency in relevant software, including word processing, spreadsheet, graphic and database software application.
Ability to work with marginalized people struggling with severe illnesses and chemical dependency.
Ability to keyboard at 50 wpm.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
Ability to analyze, problem solve and take initiative.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and adapt to changes.
Ability to perform relevant calculations.
Ability to compile information.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Business writing skills.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
