Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a creative, high-judgment, and highly proactive PR Manager to join our Canada Communications team. In this role, you will develop and execute communications strategies through multiple channels that demonstrate the impact of AWS investments and innovations across Canada.
As part of the AWS Canada Communications team, you’ll work with local leadership, marketing, global PR colleagues, and others, to develop compelling innovation stories that resonate with Canada media while connecting to a global brand. You’ll also build relationships with customers and partners – from large enterprises to fast growing startups – to develop stories that show how AWS cloud and AI technologies help Canadian customers of all sizes build and grow their business. Through strategic media relations and proactive pitching, you'll build and maintain relationships with key technology, business, and mainstream media contacts, securing high-impact coverage that supports business and reputational objectives.
This role requires the ability to translate complex technologies into clear, engaging press materials and stories that matter to Canadians; while acting as a trusted communications advisor to internal and external stakeholders. You are organized, resourceful, have strong project management skills and are comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and execute communications strategies aligned to AWS Canada business objectives
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key technology, business, and mainstream media in Canada—securing high impact coverage that supports business and reputational priorities
- Develop integrated campaigns and content across owned, earned, shared, and paid media channels that drive awareness of AWS’s impact in Canada; measuring and reporting success against pre-defined objectives
- Act like an internal journalist to identify stories and craft compelling content including press materials, talking points, briefing documents, and thought leadership articles that make complex cloud and AI technology accessible to any audience
- Collaborate with global AWS PR colleagues and other Amazon PR teams—from Stores to Devices to Prime Video, to maximize opportunities and drive holistic storytelling.
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to leadership and stakeholders—preparing spokespeople for interviews, providing real-time counsel and communication support within tight timelines, anticipating issues, and developing proactive response strategies
- Monitor industry trends and news cycles—identifying opportunities for AWS to contribute to industry conversations and applying learnings to strengthen our approach
- 7+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in a business-to-business (B2B) environment, high-tech products/services
- Experience in media relations and issues management
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Deep understanding of the Canadian media landscape and trends, including technology
- Excellent media relations skills and a current network of media contacts
- Strong bias for action and experience with end-to-end ownership of major projects and deliverables
- Experience advising senior executives on communications strategies, issues, and preparing spokespeople for media engagements
- Ability to communicate complex topics effectively and persuasively across different audiences and channels
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Highly collaborative and skilled at building relationships with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines
- Experience managing external agencies
- Proficiency or desire to upskill in AI

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
