Part-Time Household Assistant
Location: Guelph Line / New Street area, Burlington
Schedule: Flexible. Ideal schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Friday, approximately 3–4 hours per day between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (10–15 hours per week, with potential for additional hours).
Compensation: $25/hour plus mileage reimbursement for approved errands
Family: Family of 4 with children ages 9 and 12

We are a busy, active family looking for a dependable, proactive, and highly organized household assistant to help keep our home running smoothly. We love gathering with friends and family, host often, and enjoy creating a home that feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable.
This role is not a deep-cleaning or housekeeping-focused position. We value a tidy, organized, and well-functioning home and are looking for someone who naturally notices what needs attention before it becomes a problem. Whether the laundry is starting to pile up, the mudroom needs resetting, supplies are running low, or the kids' spaces need organizing, you take ownership and help keep things moving without needing constant direction.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to learn and retain household preferences, routines, and systems over time. We are looking for someone who takes pride in creating order, staying ahead of tasks, and supporting the overall flow of family life.
Responsibilities
Household Organization & Home Management
- Maintain overall household tidiness, organization, and functionality
- Reset and tidy high-traffic areas including the mudroom, kitchen, family room, and common spaces
- Wipe down general household surfaces as needed
- Ensure fresh hand towels are available throughout the home
- Break down and organize recycling
- Sort mail and organize items requiring attention
- Empty garbage and recycling as needed
- Load and unload the dishwasher
- Manage refrigerator organization and monitor food freshness
- Water and care for indoor plants
- Proactively identify tasks that need attention and complete them independently
Laundry & Household Care
- Sort, wash, fold, and put away laundry
- Change bed linens and make beds
- Assist with seasonal clothing swaps and organization
- Organize seasonal gear, outerwear, and storage areas
- Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel
Meal Preparation
- Prepare family dinners, school lunches, and assist with meal preparation
- Wash and prepare fruit, vegetables, and snacks
- Help with hosting preparation, including food prep, setting up, and tidying before and after gatherings
Shopping, Errands & Household Support
- Grocery shopping and putting groceries away
- Run household errands as needed
- Light errands using your personal vehicle, such as returns, gift purchases, and pick-ups (mileage reimbursement provided)
- Proactively monitor household supplies and add items to the shared shopping list as inventory runs low
- Assist with seasonal decorating, storage, and household projects
- Support miscellaneous tasks that contribute to a well-run home
Outdoor Maintenance
- Keep patios and outdoor living spaces tidy and ready for use
- Water outdoor plants and perform basic outdoor upkeep
- Test pool water and monitor pool chemistry (training can be provided)
- Help maintain a clean and organized pool area

- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required
- Comfortable using your personal vehicle for occasional errands (mileage reimbursed)
- Non-smoker
No childcare is required.
