Position Purpose
The Maintenance Personager oversees and leads the maintenance procedures and actions required for equipment and building infrastructure. Duties include managing installation and repair activities as well as managing contractors for the repair of building structure, CNC machine equipment and transportation equipment such as forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts, etc. Tracking and overseeing expenses for the budget of maintenance. Maintain a working environment which meets health and safety standards.
Job Description / Responsibilities
· Implement and maintain the serviceability of the plant and its equipment in a safe and suitable condition for personnel use.
· Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the Maintenance department as well as service subcontractors.
· Administer safety standards through daily observation and interventions. Ensure compliance to plant safety programs and policies, and communicate safety issues/concerns.
· Oversee the installation, maintenance and repair of CNC machines, equipment, electrical and mechanical systems and building infrastructure.
· Knowledge and experience in PLC troubleshooting.
· Consult with Plant and General Managers to develop equipment maintenance schedules and recommend the repair/replacement of equipment.
· Work to tight deadlines when machines are down to maintain and repair any mechanical or electrical issues.
· Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot malfunctions, identify root cause, repair or rebuild production equipment as required.
· Make adjustments and repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing and electrical systems and contract tradespersons as required.
· Secure and manage the work of external service providers, determine terms of reference, negotiate and monitor contractual agreements for specialized maintenance, grounds and renovation work, as required.
· Ensure maintenance personnel are properly trained and following documented procedures including the operation, setup, and changeover or repairing of equipment, technical repair and diagnostics of mechanical and electrical issues.
· Manage maintenance personnel time keeping (including overtime requirements) and work load, ensuring priories are set and follow-ups are completed daily with all maintenance staff.
· Maintain stock of maintenance supplies and parts.
· Setup, takedown, and relocation of CNC machinery and components.
· Provide solution to routine or unique equipment problems.
· Maintain a clean and orderly work environment by keeping tools and equipment organized.
· Support AS9100 Audits, Customer Audits, building inspections, equipment inspections (ie. fire equipment), etc. when required.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities Required
· Millwright License or equivalent experience
· Minimum 4 years mechanical experience in a high speed manufacturing environment
· Functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation
· Working knowledge of computerized maintenance personagement software
· Good knowledge of CNC programming language (G-code) and CNC controllers
· Good knowledge of preventative maintenance programs
· Good understanding of machining coolant maintenance
· Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
· Experience with electrical systems and basic electrical skills (Licensed Electrician is an asset)
· Able to read blue print drawings/schematics
· Interpersonal skills (including working effectively with others and influencing skills)
· Strong communication skills and attention to detail
· Ability to follow directions
· Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety and Lockout Procedures
· Successful candidates must meet and be cleared under all requirements relating to CGP (Controlled Goods Program)
· Experience conducting audits in accordance with AS9100 standards
