Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced FSQA Supervisor to lead and strengthen our food safety and quality systems within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with Canadian regulatory requirements and global food safety standards while driving continuous improvement across operations.
You’ll act as the site’s food safety leader—owning audit readiness, developing high-performing teams, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver safe, high-quality products, reporting to the QA Manager.
What You’ll Do
Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Responsible for the implementation and ongoing maintenance of food safety and quality programs, including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, allergen control, sanitation, and traceability systems.
- Support compliance with CFIA regulations, Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), customer requirements, and internal standards
- Maintain and support certification standards such as BRCGS and/or SQF
- Coordinate and perform internal, customer, and third-party audits, ensuring timely follow-up on corrective actions.
- Escalate critical food safety or compliance concerns to the QA Manager as required.
- May include other duties as assigned by QA Manager
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Oversee daily production floor quality activities to ensure adherence to product specifications and food safety standards.
- Supervise inspection, sampling, environmental monitoring, and product testing programs.
- Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints using root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) methodologies.
- Monitor quality KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve compliance, and strengthen product quality.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of QA documentation and records.
- Manage product testing programs and resolve non-conformances.
Team Leadership & Training
- Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and guidance to QA staff.
- Support employee development through ongoing training in GMPs, HACCP, food safety, and quality procedures.
- Promote a positive food safety culture and reinforce accountability across all departments.
- Supervise QA staff and prioritize testing activities to ensure timely and high-quality solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation, R&D, and Supply Chain teams to support food safety and operational objectives.
- Participate in new product launches, process validations, and continuous improvement projects.
- Provide floor presence and hands-on support during production activities and issue resolution.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of QA experience in food manufacturing, including supervisory or team lead responsibilities.
- HACCP certification required; SQF Practitioner, PCQI, or BRCGS experience considered an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of CFIA regulations, SFCR, GMPs, and food safety systems.
- Experience supporting audits and managing corrective action processes.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a hands-on approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management/document control systems.
- Ability to learn new computer software with ease
Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
