Orchard Park is a non-profit Nursery School that offers half day programming for children who are 2 to 5 years of age. It has been in the Orchard Park area for over 50 years. The Early Childhood Educator works under the direction of the Executive Director and a Parent Executive Board. The ideal candidate will be primarily responsible for the planning and delivery of inclusive, play-based learning and care programs for children. Educators are responsible for promoting the well-being and holistic development of the children in their care.
Position responsibilities:
● Plan and implement a quality childcare program, within a warm and nurturing learning environment for toddlers and preschoolers.
● Supervision of children ensuring a safe environment
● Communicate daily with parents in an open and supportive manner
● Maintain a positive and consistent approach toward guiding children’s success, consistent with the Orchard Park’s philosophy
● Demonstrate sound knowledge of Orchard Park’s Program Statement
● Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and courtesy at all times
Qualifications:
● Early Childhood Education Diploma
● Proof of membership in the College of Early Childhood Educators
● Minimum 2 years’ experience preferred
● Experience working with children with exceptionalities preferred
● Experience working with a parent board would be an asset
● Standard First Aid with Infant/Child CPR - Level (C) certification
● Ability to demonstrate and maintain a successful Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
● Meet vaccination requirements outlined in the Child Care and Early Years Act

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
● Creative program planning skills
● Ability to work effectively as a member of a teaching team
● Highly knowledgeable in child development
● Knowledge and experience in working with Children with exceptionalities
● Strong working knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act and related regulations, inquiry-based learning, inclusive practices, and the Ministry of Education document - How Does Learning Happen?
● Strong working knowledge in social/emotional development as well as behaviour regulation
