Albertans may come to Alberta Supports in relation to the Child Care Subsidy, Alberta Health Benefits, Alberta Seniors, Income Supports, Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped, Disability Services, Children's Services, Public Guardian and employment services. This position functions within relevant legislation and regulations and applicable Ministry and government policies, procedures, and guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have well developed and demonstrated skills and abilities in the following areas:

  • Efficient computer skills (to search multiple databases; create records of service and issues benefits)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (interviewing, listening, respond to email, etc.)
  • Strong assessment, judgment and decision making skills (Interprets and applies legislation, regulation, policy and program rules to determine appropriate level(s) of service.)
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention services to defuse and de-escalate conflicts or crises
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds of individuals, including determining language requirements, accessing interpreters as required, and tailoring responses as appropriate
Qualifications
University/College graduation with a degree or a diploma in Social Science, Career Development, Education or Humanities, (i.e. BA in Psychology, Sociology, Business Administration, Cultural Anthropology) or a related field. Recent experience working with vulnerable individuals and work experience with social based programs as well as experience in a customer service environment would be considered an asset.

Salary
$ 2,086.07 to $ 2,711.74 Bi-weekly

Notes
The hours of work are 36.25 weekly.

This temporary position is due to expire on or before January 3, 2020.

This competition may be used to fill current and future vacancies across North Central Alberta.

The successful candidate will be required to have a valid Alberta Driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle as travel will be required. The final candidate(s) for this position will be asked to undergo academic verification and provide a Criminal Record Check screening. The successful candidate will require working knowledge of Microsoft products.
