The Vice President, Control Brand Marketing is a key partner to the enterprise Loblaw Brands leadership, providing a holistic perspective on the control brand and marketing strategy that will drive customer demand and brand love. They are accountable for creating and executing the brand and marketing strategies for Loblaw’s control brands, building and executing marketing programs that attract new customers, expand their overall relationships with the LCL enterprise, and increase the health of the brands. They lead the development of long-term brand marketing strategies that when executed effectively communicate and enhance our competitive advantages, improve our control brand awareness, and enable the achievement of profitable sales targets and share gains.
Leads the development of the full year marketing plans and integrated marketing campaigns with internal and external partners that drive sales, improve ROI and drive market share growth, improving the company’s control brand market position and competitive advantage
Leads and co-ordinates the execution of the owned and operated content strategy and customer life cycle management for the control brands, to build customer acquisition, retention, and engagement.
Proactively aligns the organization and drives the marketing strategy and execution to drive the omni channel growth of the control brand programs in-store and in digital.
Working collaboratively with the marketing teams, cross functional teams, and centres of excellence, to bring the best of the enterprise to the control brand programs.
Collaborate with Loblaw Brands team and BU leads to shape a cohesive and compelling control brand experience for target customer segments.
Leads a coordinated effort with the divisional marketing teams and LD teams to ensure that control brand programs can be executed in-store and online, within the operational guidelines from each division.
Be the champion of brands and customer experiences. Ensure effective communication and understanding of brand objectives, initiatives, and vision across the organization, to ensure seamless transition of execution and implementation
Responsible for planning, and managing results from category marketing, shopper marketing and promotional programs to primarily achieving share and sales targets, but also to deliver improved margin goals.
Leads the team to deliver briefs that create world class creative, with shared accountability for creative execution results. Is accountable for building strong working relationships with execution partners both internal and external.
Manages programs within the required compliance and work process guidelines, looks for opportunity to improve work processes and increase agility without compromising compliance.
Continuously works towards improving marketing ROI through the identification of opportunities, both cost savings and business building.
Leverages strong management of financial reporting, business analysis and postmortems
Ensures the marketing budget is managed in accordance with best practices.
Lead a team of highly skilled marketers and contribute to their development. Ensure clarity of team roles, goal setting and contribute to the overall marketing culture and talent development efforts.
Ensures that critical insights from brand dashboards, analysis of consumer, brand and competitor information is translated to insightful plans, opportunities and briefs that will continue to build inspiring, differentiated mega brands. Collaborates with the Customer COE, DI&A, and key stakeholders to build annual research and measurement plans.
University or college degree in business, marketing, or an equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
15+ years or more of relevant work experience leading marketing organizations – retail and cpg.
5-7 or more years of experience leading a team or having direct reports
Broad and comprehensive understanding of marketing disciplines including marketing analytics and technology.
Proven track record of successful brand management and digital marketing transformation.
Excellent people management skills
Experience in matrix organization
