Job Summary:
As the Camp Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals exclusively for the Ottawa Tennis Club’s Day camp participants. You will ensure that meals are nutritious, appealing, and meet dietary requirements while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and kitchen cleanliness. This role requires excellent organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to adapt to a camp environment's needs.
Responsibilities:
· Plan and prepare daily meals for camp participants, ensuring a variety of healthy, balanced options.
· Accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies, ensuring meals meet specific requirements.
· Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
· Minimize food waste by effectively planning and utilizing ingredients.
· Ensure all meals are prepared on time to accommodate the camp’s schedule.
· Collaborate with camp staff to coordinate meal service and address any food-related concerns.
· Maintain and monitor kitchen equipment, reporting any maintenance or repair needs.
· Comply with all health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
· Create a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for all campers.
Qualifications
· Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably in a high-volume or camp setting.
· Valid Food Handler's Certificate.
· Valid Vulnerable Police Records Check
· Ability to plan menus that are both nutritious and appealing to children.
· Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
· Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet meal service schedules.
· Creativity and flexibility to adapt menus to meet dietary restrictions and camp needs.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff and campers.
· Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when necessary.
· Availability to work daytime hours during the camp’s operating season, including weekends if required.
Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
