We are hiring for a Business Development Lead to propel our growth initiatives here at Cortex. Summary of Functions
The Business Development Leader will be the “engine of sales” – fueling our sales pipeline through effective business development efforts, supporting sales operations and account management, client and prospect communications, and administrative tasks related to preparing for and bringing in new sales for Cortex. This role is not required to close sales directly, but to support the CEO in identifying and screening new prospects, determining client budgets, preparing for and attending meetings, and managing NDAs, contracts and related documentation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and develop top-of-funnel opportunities, systematically and at scale
- Identify and support fruitful partnerships and partner collaborations
- Manage consistent outreach efforts, follow-ups, and networking activities
- Manage tracking tools and suggest/implement improved processes
- Establish a face/voice on LinkedIn and use that as a tool to connect with prospects and engage with the community
- Attend sales meetings and send contact reports
- Send NDAs, contracts, and manage client communications
- Support the technical teams with account management when needed
- Ensure all contracts and documentation are correctly stored in Drive for active and prospective clients
- Manage our CRM and the prospects tracked within it
- Working closely with Cortex’s Technical Directors to prepare them for sales calls and collaborate on preparing quotes for clients
- Support content planning/coordination and writing
- Receiving inbound inquiries and setting up intro calls
- Helping with general clerical and administrative tasks not related to sales operations
- Preparing and editing quotes
Core Competencies
Minimum Competencies
- 5+ years sales and/or business development experience
- Proven track record of business development success and can show examples of impact (6-7 digit deals closed)
- Motivated and performance driven individual
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and relationship building skills
- Extremely well organized and detail oriented
- Highly professional with a passion for networking
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Competencies
- Professional services sales experience
- CRM experience (Salesforce, MS Dynamics, Pipedrive, Base, Zoho, etc)
- Medical device development/ MedTech/ Hardware sales experience
- Technical background/education: engineering, design, regulatory/clinical, manufacturing, etc.
- Knowledge of quality & safety standards and systems; ISO13485, ISO9001, UL, CSA, FCC, CE
- Project management skills
- Experience using Google Workspace
Organizational Relationships
- Reports to the CEO
- Works directly with all Cortex staff
