Disera Medical Centre is a well-established, busy family medicine and walk-in clinic in Thornhill, ON, seeking a Medical Office Assistant (MOA) with lab technician skills to join our dynamic healthcare team.
We are looking for a friendly, organized, and experienced MOA who can also support our in-clinic lab and specimen collection services. This is an excellent opportunity to grow in a fast-paced medical environment where you'll work across both front-desk and clinical support functions.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients, manage check-in and appointment flow
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments using ACCURO EMR
- Handle phones, voicemail, triage calls, and faxes
- Process referrals and specialist bookings
- Assist with uninsured services (e.g., block fees, forms, billing)
- Perform specimen collection (venipuncture/phlebotomy) and point-of-care testing
- Label, handle, and prepare specimens for processing and pickup, following proper protocols
- Maintain lab supplies, ensure cleanliness, and follow infection-control standards
- Maintain accurate patient records and support physicians as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an MOA
- Phlebotomy / specimen collection certification or equivalent demonstrated experience
- Proficient in ACCURO EMR
- Strong communication skills in English (written & spoken)
- Ability to multitask in a high-volume clinic
- Professional and reliable, with a strong attention to detail
Assets:
- Additional language is an asset
- Prior experience in a family medicine or walk-in clinic setting
- Experience with ECGs and other point-of-care diagnostics
Schedule:
- Full-time: Monday to Friday + 1–2 scheduled weekends
- Clinic is open 7 days/week, 8:30AM–8PM (8 hour shift with 30 min break)
