The Opportunity
The Director of Financial Aid (DFA) will create and provide the leadership, strategic direction, and management for the financial aid and compliance functional areas and will develop, monitor, evaluate, and recommend improvements to processes, procedures, workflow, and/or standards.
The DFA is primarily responsible for the overall operation of the student financial aid program. The DFA is responsible for operationalizing and directing all short, intermediate, and long-range planning for the financial aid program. The DFA coordinates the implementation of financial aid regulations, policies and procedures, and administers the student financial aid program including federal and provincial funds.
What you'll be doing:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains direct reports to ensure they have the capability to deliver on their responsibilities.
- Determines work priorities, trains, delegates tasks, and evaluates work efforts.
- Manages the annual private career college renewal process.
- Oversees the Designated Learning Institution submissions.
- Supervises the annual KPI submission process for Ontario and communicates results to internal teams.
- Responsible for managing a risk-based quality control program that provides continuous monitoring of the College’s financial aid performance to ensure fulfilment of regulatory compliance procedures.
- Works closely with the Admissions team to ensure efficient admissions and financial aid processes.
- Acts as the final escalation point for student issues.
- Maintains a high level of professional competence in best practices in financial aid, program assessment, operational budgeting
- Develops, implements, and revises policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all Federal and Provincial laws and regulations. Responsible for the development and implementation of College polices as they relate to financial and institutional aid.
- Develops and maintains appropriate relationships with the Career Colleges Ontario (CCO) Financial Aid Office
- Develops relationships with provincial and federal student loans departments within each province.
- Ensures compliance to meet the requirements of the Ontario Private Career Colleges Act
- Ensures compliance to meet the regulations governing the processing of Canada, Ontario federal and provincial student loans.
- Other duties as assigned, and which are in the best interests of the College.

Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Finance, Business Administration, Communications, Public Administration, or relevant field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three (3) to five (5) years or more years of experience in all aspects of college student financial aid administration is required, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory position preferred. Significant professional development in financial aid is desirable.
- Knowledge of the Private Career College industry.
- Knowledge of current business, leadership, and customer service practices.
- Knowledge of government regulatory obligations of education in Ontario.
- Able to travel throughout Canada without restriction
- A reliable vehicle, credit card and valid driver’s license is required.
