We have an exciting position in our program for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) at the Royal Alexandra Hospital Satellite Hemodialysis Unit. The RN works to provide hemodialysis treatment to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team. The RN delivers comprehensive patient and family-centered care to renal patients. The RN practices within the philosophy and guidelines of the Alberta Kidney Care – North (AKCN) to provide leadership, critical thinking, clinical judgment, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care to promote, maintain, or restore health, prevent illness, injury, and disability to the renal patient. The RN practices nursing care according to Hemodialysis Nursing Specialty Scope of Practice, regulating body, clinical policies, and nursing standards. The RN demonstrates a professional demeanor, pursues regular professional development opportunities, and maintains professional designation. The RN assumes unit leadership and charges responsibilities to support all levels of the multidisciplinary team as per Unit Manager Direction. Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making abilities required. Basic computer skills required. Successful candidate must be able to lift 40 lbs. (18kg). Must be able to attend Hemodialysis training in Edmonton or Red Deer x 6 weeks full-time training. Hemodialysis Training is held in Edmonton or Red Deer depending on classroom/instructor availability. The training is an intensive 4-week full time schedule with an additional 2 weeks of full-time buddy shifts. A passing mark of 80% on the final exam and satisfactory performance during clinical component is required to move on to 2 weeks full-time buddy shifts. Upon successful completion of the orientation the RN will be able to proceed to the unit specific orientation – 2 weeks of buddy shifts as assigned by the Unit Manager. Required to attend 1-day mandatory post orientation (3 Months Post) in person for Edmonton zone employees and via zoom for outside of the Edmonton Zone employees. Charge nurse skilled. Demonstrated time management, organizational skills, communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
1-to 2 years of current Hemodialysis experience or 2 years med/surg experience. Charge nurse skilled. Care experiences an asset. Competent in Connect Care.
