With this post, we are currently recruiting for our Braeside campus location.
Position Summary:
This position requires love, patience and respect for children. Teachers are expected to observe children’s interests in order to shape the environment and meet their needs. The teacher will facilitate activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth following the philosophies of Loris Malaguzzi and drawing inspiration from schools in Reggio-Emilia.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:
Encouraging children through role modeling and guidance to respect themselves and others
Spark imagination, build self-esteem and encourage children to enrich their every day experiences using the environment as the third teacher
Collaborate with classroom teams for planning and implementation of weekly lesson plans
Ensure that classroom practices meet Alberta Child Care Licensing Standards.
Adapt the environment and learning opportunities to reflect children’s interests and curiosities
Supervise the classroom, helping the children to think creatively, to solve problems independently and respect themselves and others
Guide children in self-motivated learning, helping stimulate their natural desire to learn
Be responsible for ensuring an educational, caring and safe environment for the children
Be responsible for reporting challenges, successes and competencies of each child to the Program Supervisor or to parents
Effective communication skills and strong organizational skills are essential
Qualifications:
Early Childhood Certification or related field
Alberta Child Care Certification Level 2 (Assistant) or higher
Current first aid certificate (may be obtained upon hire)
Ability to lift a min. of 40 lbs especially when working with infants and toddlers
Criminal record Check/vulnerable sector check, within past 6 months (may be obtained upon hire)
Required experience:
At least two years experience working with preschool children in a Reggio inspired practice / Emergent curriculum
