We are looking for a dynamic, self-starter for the position of Apprentice Millwright Technician.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Maintenance Planner/Supervisor, the successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving production equipment and machinery. Previous mechanical experience with hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, conveying systems, and packaging systems would be a definite asset.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in how machinery operates. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate:
· Hands-on experience working with mechanical systems (automotive, farm equipment, industrial equipment, fabrication, etc.)
· Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively
· Basic understanding of power transmission components (bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, couplings)
· Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
· Mechanical troubleshooting ability and logical problem-solving skills
· Experience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) is an asset
Applicants must provide examples of mechanical projects or equipment they have worked on.
Candidates selected for an interview will complete a mechanical aptitude and practical assessment.
Applicants must commit to completing the 4-year Apprentice Millwright trade school training program and attain red seal designation within a 5-year period. Must meet the Minimum Education requirements needed for enrollment.
This position requires candidates to:
· Perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies and maintain safety standards of equipment and work area.
· Perform preventative maintenance on industrial equipment and warehouse packaging equipment.
· Ensure that all work and inspections are properly documented.
· Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot all equipment and machines to ensure the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of all machinery.
· Conduct regular inspections on all machinery for defects and potential problems in accordance with preventative maintenance program.
· Repair and replace parts as required.
· Fabricate and weld basic metal components and assemblies.
· Support development and/or updating preventive maintenance procedures.
· Work from heights and in confined spaces.
· Participate as a member of the rescue team.
· Willing to work overtime when required.
