Aide Positions supporting children with disabilities - Independent contractor position (Calgary and surrounding area)
We are hiring dedicated individuals to provide one-on-one support to children with disabilities. As an Aide, you will play a key role in supporting children’s development and well-being through structured activities, play-based engagement, and caregiving support, while working closely with families and, when applicable, other clinicians. Responsibilities may vary based on client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-home and community-based support for children and families
- Work with multiple families and children on a weekly basis
- Collaborate with families, as well as specialists when needed
- Support children’s development through play-based engagement and daily routines
- Assist with caregiving needs, including hygiene and personal care
- Ensure children’s safety, engagement, and well-being during sessions
- Take session notes, providing updates on progress, observations, and goals
Requirements:
- Undergraduate or graduate students majoring in Psychology, Child Studies, Education or Social Work (or other related programs)
- Experience working with children or experience with developmental disabilities is an asset
- Strong communication skills and punctuality
- Comfortable working with young children
- Interest in Child behaviour, development, and psychology
- Understanding of child development, behaviour, and/or caregiving practices
- Able to commit 6 months or more
Basic Requirment Certifications/Documents:
- Police information background check with the vulnerable sector search (within 1 month, renewed annually)
- CPR (Level C or equivalent) and Standard First Aid certification
- Proof of enrollment AND/OR degree AND/OR related experience AND/OR Related training
