Inventive Consulting Group Ltd. is a professional engineering firm licensed to practise in five provinces - Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia - doing structural, storage rack and building envelope work for industrial and commercial clients. Field work is GTA and southern Ontario; design work spans all five.
WHY THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT:
Most EIT jobs put you in a corner of a large office, on a corner of a large project, for two years. This is the opposite.
- On site from your first month. What you measure is what gets calculated, and what gets calculated is what gets sealed.
- Whole projects, not fragments: field capture, calculation, drawing, report, issue.
- Mentored directly by the P.Eng. who signs your experience record - a Ph.D., P.Eng. who also teaches at McMaster University.
If you want to be one of forty EITs, this is the wrong posting.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Roughly half field, half design.
- Storage rack inspections to CSA A344, and Pre-Start Health and Safety Review field capture under O. Reg. 851.
- Construction-stage general review - slab pours, steel erection, cladding - observed against the sealed drawings.
- Structural calculations to CSA S16, S136, A23.3 and O86, to the NBC and whichever provincial code edition governs - we seal in five provinces, so that is a question you ask, not one you assume.
- Rack capacity checks, reports, drawings, and shop drawing review.
WHAT WE NEED:
- B.Eng. or B.A.Sc. in Civil or Structural Engineering (CEAB-accredited, or a PEO-assessed equivalent).
- Eligible to enrol in PEO's Engineering Intern program. We pay the fee.
- 0-4 years of experience. New graduates genuinely encouraged.
- Valid Ontario Class G licence and reliable access to a vehicle. Site travel is core to this job, not an occasional favour. If you will not drive to a warehouse in Brantford in February, this role will make you unhappy.
- AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and clear technical writing in English. Field notes are legal documents.
NICE TO HAVE
Storage rack, warehouse, industrial or building envelope exposure. S-FRAME, ETABS, SAP2000 or RISA. Bluebeam. CSA A344, ANSI MH16.1 or ACI 360R. First Aid/CPR.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
- PEO Engineering Intern fees paid, and structured support toward your P.Eng.
- Mileage at the CRA rate. Hybrid working. Formal reviews at six and twelve months.
