Summit School is a private school recognized and subsidized in the public interest by the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement Supérieur. Founded in 1963, the school services over 650 special needs students by creating an individualized and enriching environment. The students' range in age from 4 to 21, with intellectual disabilities including behavioral and emotional disturbances, Autism, Down Syndrome, and severe learning disabilities. We are actively recruiting several camp counsellors for the July 2025 camp session. This position assists in the smooth operation of a single camp group. We are looking for patient, attentive individuals to care for our campers. Someone who is thorough and caring with a positive attitude and lots of energy.
Candidates must be available from Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 3:30pm
Salary: starting at minimum wage - $16.10/hour
Location: Ville Saint-Laurent (Metro: Cote-Vertu)
Responsibilities include:
· Animate groups of children & ensure their safety during the activities
· Create and organize different activities
· Oversee snack time and lunch
· Collaborate in the preparation of themes and camp outings
· Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
· Ability to communicate effectively with parents, other camp counsellors and campers
Skills & Qualifications:
· Must be creative, flexible, and adaptable
· Enjoy working in a team environment
· High level of empathy, care, and sensitivity to the needs of the campers
· Organized and able to multitask
· Attentiveness to the needs and safety of children
· Applicants are required to have a clear criminal record check
· Experience with special needs children (an asset)
