As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team and support financial reporting, analysis, tax compliance, budgeting, and process improvement.
Position Summary
The Financial Analyst will support financial reporting, management analysis, budgeting and forecasting, GST/HST compliance, profitability analysis, and financial process improvement.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Strong accounting fundamentals, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to work with financial and operational data are essential.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly financial and management reports, variance analysis, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting.
- Analyze revenue, costs, margins, profitability, and operational performance.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial planning.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and maintain Excel-based financial models, reports, and dashboards.
- Analyze and reconcile financial and operational data from multiple systems.
- Use advanced Excel functions, PivotTables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and Power Query to improve reporting and data analysis.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and automate recurring reports where possible.
GST/HST & Tax Compliance
- Assist with GST/HST preparation, filing, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Review transactions and invoices for appropriate tax treatment and identify potential compliance issues.
- Support GST/HST analysis for domestic, cross-border, and international logistics transactions.
- Maintain tax documentation and assist with CRA reviews, audits, and information requests.
Business Support & Process Improvement
- Work with Operations, Sales, Billing, and other teams to resolve financial and tax-related issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, data quality, tax compliance, and finance processes.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, reporting, or indirect tax.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and month-end closing.
- Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial modelling.
- Experience with GST/HST compliance or transaction-level tax analysis is an asset.
- Experience with Power Query, Power BI, SQL, ERP, or accounting systems is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience with Kingdee or logistics-management systems is an asset.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, both spoken and written.
Nice to Have
- CPA designation, CPA enrollment, or progress toward CPA.
- Knowledge of Canadian GST/HST principles.
- Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, or a related industry.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
