Position Summary
The Housekeeper / Room Attendant plays an important role in creating a clean, comfortable, and welcoming experience for every guest. This position is responsible for cleaning and preparing guest rooms to hotel standards while providing friendly, professional service and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, pays close attention to detail, works efficiently, and understands that the cleanliness of our hotel is an important part of the overall guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare assigned guest rooms according to Best Western and hotel cleanliness standards.
- Make beds and replace linens as required.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, showers/tubs, sinks, mirrors, counters, fixtures, and floors.
- Dust and wipe furniture, headboards, lamps, pictures, baseboards, windowsills, and other room surfaces.
- Vacuum carpets and clean hard-surface flooring, including corners and areas underneath or behind furniture where accessible.
- Remove garbage and recycling and replace liners.
- Replenish towels, toiletries, coffee supplies, and other guest room amenities.
- Check rooms carefully for hair, dust, stains, odours, damage, or other cleanliness concerns before considering the room complete.
- Ensure guest rooms are properly stocked, organized, and presented for arriving guests.
- Clean stayover rooms and respond appropriately to guest housekeeping requests.
- Maintain housekeeping carts, supplies, linen areas, and storage spaces in a clean and organized manner.
- Report maintenance concerns, damaged items, pest concerns, lost and found items, and unusual room conditions promptly to a supervisor.
- Follow proper procedures for handling guest belongings and lost and found items.
- Follow hotel procedures regarding room access, guest privacy, security, and Do Not Disturb signs.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to WHMIS and hotel procedures.
- Follow all workplace health and safety requirements.
- Assist with cleaning hallways, stairways, common areas, and other hotel areas when required.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with guests, coworkers, supervisors, and other departments.
- Respond to guest requests with a helpful and positive attitude or refer the request to the appropriate department.
- Complete assigned rooms within established productivity expectations while maintaining quality standards.
- Participate in housekeeping meetings, training, and ongoing quality-improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Previous hotel housekeeping or professional cleaning experience is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively.
- Ability to follow instructions, cleaning procedures, and safety requirements.
- Professional and respectful communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
- Basic English communication skills sufficient to understand instructions, safety information, and guest requests.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays based on hotel occupancy and operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
The position requires regular physical activity throughout the shift, including:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Bending, reaching, kneeling, and repetitive movement.
- Pushing and pulling housekeeping carts.
- Lifting and carrying linens, supplies, and other housekeeping materials.
- Moving or repositioning light furniture when required to complete cleaning safely.
- Performing repetitive cleaning tasks while following safe work practices.

Pay: $20.70-$22.70 per hour
