Why this role is important?
Reporting to the Chief Human Resource Officer, the Senior Vice President (SVP), HR Business Partnering, supports client groups to achieve business and functional goals. Client groups include the Shoppers Drug Mart Division, along with the Finance, Legal, LRE and Corporate Affairs. The SVP HRBP develops, promotes and implements progressive Human Resources and organizational development policies and programs for the organization that align with core values and desired culture.
Accountabilities:
Lead a team of HR professionals by providing strategic guidance, coaching and development.
Partner with executive leaders, to identify and address the needs of the business to develop HR strategies, while also translating the enterprise HR strategies into the division.
Provide direction on HR policies and programs including recruiting, employee relations, compensation, rewards and benefits, organizational development, leadership and performance management. Assess competitiveness against relevant comparable companies, industries and markets.
Oversee and advise on HR matters, including compliance with employment legislation, company policies and procedures and compensation.
Collaborate with Loblaw Companies Limited HR Leadership Team on various enterprise initiatives, including strategy and long-range planning, organizational planning and design, new programs and delivery, and regulatory action.
Identify HR metrics to analyze and address business problems that impact organizational effectiveness.
Embed diversity, equity and inclusion into culture and HR policies and programs, and oversee the annual Employment Equity reporting and action plans.
Prepare necessary fillings and information for effective budgeting, financial analysis, strategic initiatives and Board presentations.
Coach executives with leadership advice, guidance and support, while promoting our culture and values.
Support leadership in defining and implementing change processes that support objectives.
Lead the organizational review process that evaluates structure, proficiency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific strategies to fill the gaps.
Stay connected to federal, provincial and local compensation and employment laws and regulations to ensure statutory compliance.
Qualifications:
Completion of a Bachelors degree in Human Resources and a minimum of 10-15+ years post-qualification experience in Human Resources Generalist capacity working in progressively senior roles
10+ years of people leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to build, coach, lead and mentor teams
Ability to translate business initiatives into clear, consistent and systematic HR strategy
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders
Mature judgment, willingness to take responsibility and initiative to make decisions
Effective communicator with demonstrated written and verbal skills i.e. report writing, presentations and meeting facilitation
Able to identify client needs and commit to responding to them in agreed upon timeframes
Capable of setting clear and deliverable goals for themselves and the team
Demonstrates excellent business ethics and is a trustworthy member
Advanced competencies in employment legislation, performance & talent management, succession planning and maintaining positive employee relations in a non-union environment
Works collaboratively in a team environment and has a positive outlook and approach
Good time management, organizational skills and well-developed financial acumen
Proactive individual, able to effectively manage various projects simultaneously
A demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people at various levels of an organization
