What You'll Do
Protect People & Property
- Conduct regular foot patrols throughout the store, entrances, exits, parking lot, and surrounding property.
- Maintain a highly visible presence to deter theft, vandalism, and other unauthorized activity.
- Monitor high-risk areas and identify potential security concerns before they escalate.
- Support loss prevention initiatives while maintaining a professional and customer-friendly approach.
Respond to Incidents
- Respond promptly to security incidents, disturbances, medical emergencies, and customer concerns.
- Apply conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to resolve situations safely.
- Assist with emergency evacuations and follow established emergency procedures.
- Provide First Aid, CPR, or AED assistance when required.
Deliver Outstanding Customer Service
- Greet and assist customers in a professional and approachable manner.
- Provide directions, answer general inquiries, and create a welcoming shopping environment.
- Work closely with store management and staff to maintain a safe workplace.
- Enforce site policies with professionalism, fairness, and respect.
Reporting & Documentation
- Complete accurate incident reports, occurrence reports, and daily activity logs.
- Document observations, safety concerns, and security-related incidents clearly and professionally.
- Communicate important information during shift handovers.
Safety & Surveillance
- Monitor CCTV systems and report suspicious activity.
- Inspect emergency exits, entrances, and other high-risk areas.
- Report hazards, damaged equipment, and maintenance concerns promptly.
- Maintain accountability for company-issued equipment and follow all site procedures.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence.
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain before starting).
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Professional, reliable, and dependable.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer and smartphone skills for report writing.
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods during 8–12-hour shifts.
- Flexible availability for days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail security, loss prevention, customer service, hospitality, or another customer-facing role.
- Use of Force Certification.
- Experience working in busy retail environments.
- Knowledge of theft prevention and conflict de-escalation techniques.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment with continuous customer interaction.
- Ability to patrol both indoor and outdoor areas, including parking lots.
- Ability to respond quickly and professionally during emergencies.
