The Opportunity

Reporting to the Finance Operations Controller, the Finance Operations Manager – East Coast & Farms assists with operational budgets and manages costs for all Canopy Growth’s operating locations in the Eastern Region and the central farms. This individual is responsible for the oversight of the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities.

A key mandate is to provide support to the operations team including month end reports, KPIs, spending variance reviews, and finance prime for physical inventory and cycle count processes. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, analytical skills, the ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization and has worked with auditors in a publicly traded company.

  • Manage a growing team of Cost Accountants
  • Manage the maintenance of an operations departmental costing model used for
  • Budget variance review to support site leads (GM and department leads)
  • Inventory and biological asset valuations,
  • monthly spend analysis and close processing
  • Develop and maintain standard costing allocations and application rates
  • Supervise the maintenance of costing records in the ERP
  • Oversee and review the collection, summarization, and analysis of key inputs and assumptions in the inventory and biological asset valuation models
  • Support facility GMs on development and reporting of through-put measures, yields, and other key measures
  • Lead the operations month-end and year-end closing, including review of inventory adjustments and departmental allocations
  • Oversee the analysis of quarterly production spending
  • Support operations with the quarterly physical inventory counts
  • Support operations with the preparation of production facility annual budgets
  • Identify and recommend to senior management cost-effective solutions
  • Advise on appropriate procurement cost coding
  • Support facility GMs with general finance questions
  • Support the ERP implementation project, as required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • 10+ years’ experience in Cost Accounting at a Manager level
  • Obtained or an accounting designation (CMA an asset)
  • Advanced Excel, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • ERP experience required, Sage X3 an asset
  • Public company experience an asset
  • Flexible and able to prioritize tasks
  • Strong work ethic and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization
Other Details

This is a full-time position based out of (TBD – multiple locations possible), with the build-out of our East Coast Operations and continued farming operations centrally, this position could be based out of a couple of different site possibilities. Some travel will be required.
