This position will be required to work at our Saskatoon office with a planned office relocation to Whitecap, SK in Spring 2027.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Director, Information Technology & Digital Innovation, the Cybersecurity Lead, will establish and operate VHH’s end-to-end cybersecurity program across all its business domains, alongside our service partners, including our network management provider. This role blends strategy, design, implementation, and hands-on operations working closely with DevOps, IT, clinical services, operations, partners, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Governance
- Collaboratively develop appropriate security strategy for VHH, with the required governance, policies, and guidelines
Cloud
- Lead the design of and secure VHH’s cloud infrastructure going forward
Microsoft 365
- Support and protect collaboration and productivity environments
Network
- Lead the security of networking across corporate and cloud environments
Systems & Endpoint
- Protect servers, workstations, and endpoint devices including medical equipment
Application Security
- Work with DevOps to secure healthcare applications
AI Systems & AI Tool
- Secure the use of AI technologies (developed, and commercial) across VHH
Health Data
- Ensure robust protections are in place for personal health information (PHI)
Conformity, Compliance & Risk Management
- Maintain conformity and compliance with healthcare and cybersecurity frameworks
Security Operations
- Operate day-to-day security monitoring and response capabilities with our vendor
Physical
- Protect physical assets and work environments
Awareness & Culture
- Promote security awareness across VHH
What You’ll Bring
You are a dynamic cybersecurity lead with experience in challenging and technically diverse environments. You are detail oriented, share our values, and are driven to make a meaningful contribution to a powerful mission.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and substantial hands-on cybersecurity experience may be considered
- 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, governance, risk, and compliance
- Cybersecurity certification (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CCSP, CISA or CISM)
- Familiarity with some of the following information security standards / frameworks (e.g., ISO/IEC 27001/2, NIST SP 800-53, SOC 2, HITRUST)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, ability to engage with team members from various disciplines, cultures, and backgrounds, and the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience implementing or managing security governance framework(s), policies, risk mitigation, and including threat-risk and privacy-impact assessments
- Familiarity with project management and change management, including agile methodology
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of Canadian health and privacy laws, and regulations (e.g., PIPEDA, HIPA)
- Familiarity of other industry standards (e.g., ITIL, COBIT, ISO 9001, COMSEC)
- Experience in all security domains (e.g., cloud, network, systems, applications, and AI security)
- PMP or equivalent certification and experience
