C & E Utility Services is looking for a cable technician to join our team. Working alongside the owner, you would be responsible for the following:
· Driving company trucks; loading and unloading construction materials and equipment, hauling trailers in a safe manner
· Working independently or part of a team
· Keeping a clean, safe work area
· Labor as required, work with civil crew when required.
· Participate in safety meetings
· Setting pedestals and/or vaults
· Placing cable (conduit and pole)
· Splicing cables – Coax, Copper and or Fiber Optic
· Inside & outside plant construction
· Assisting on civil construction projects as needed
To get these tasks done, you need to be capable of the following:
· Driving larger trucks, such as single-axle (5-ton) with a manual transmission or (1 ton) truck with trailer.
· Perform cable terminations and testing to ensure proper signal transmission.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues with cable connections, signal strength, and equipment malfunctions
· Experience handling cable installations and repairs
· Basic electrical skills for working with low voltage systems
· Ability to use hand tools effectively for cable terminations and equipment installations
· Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve cable-related issues
· Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate cable terminations and connections
We are willing to train the right candidate, but if you already have experience in any of the following, be sure to highlight it on your application:
· Twisted pair splicing and testing. (TELUS OSP)
· Fiber splicing - OSP AND FTTH
· Arial work – lashing
· Experience working on mainline, drops and cable projects
· Equipment operation – Bucket trucks, Backhoes, mini excavators, small cable plows or HDD
must have full class 5 non GDL with good driving record
You would work outside in all weather conditions and occasionally in confined spaces or at heights. Candidates must have a clean drivers abstract, be confident operating a manual transmission and be able to lift up to 50lbs independently. Weekly overtime may be required.
The hourly range of this role is $25 - $36 an hour depending on depth of skills and experience. You will be eligible for benefits on your first day.
