Core Responsibilities of a Line Cook
- Station Setup & Prep: Sets up, stocks, and breaks down stations with all necessary supplies. Prepares ingredients (chopping vegetables, butchering meat, preparing sauces) before service.
- Cooking and Service: Cooks menu items according to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards. Manages multiple orders simultaneously, coordinating cooking times so all food is ready at the same time.
- Food Safety & Sanitation: Complies with health regulations, maintains a clean, organized, and sanitary station, and ensures proper food labeling and storage.
- Collaboration: Coordinates with other team members to ensure smooth service and communicates with chefs on inventory levels.
- Operational Duties: Takes direction from sous chefs or executive chefs to prepare daily specials and cleans, breaks down, and sanitizes the station at the end of the shift.
Key Skills Required
- Timing and Coordination: Handling, up to 12 orders at once, with items finishing simultaneously.
- Efficiency: Preparing high-quality food in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Maintaining consistency in taste and presentation.
- Physical Endurance: Working long hours on feet in a hot environment.
