This co-op position supports BC Hydro’s Records and Information Operations team, with a primary focus on the Records
Retention and Disposition (RRD) project.
The RRD project involves a comprehensive review of procurement (supply chain) records dating back to 2000. The goal of
the project is to ensure records are:
- Retained in accordance with corporate retention schedules
- Properly classified and managed
- Disposed of securely when no longer required
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with records management, information systems, and
business stakeholders.
Duties include:
- Review and analyze digital records independently and as part of a team
- Apply corporate retention schedules to ensure compliance with records management policies
- Collaborate with Enterprise Information Management Systems Analysts to manage records within the Enterprise Content
Management (ECM) system
- Perform quality assurance on digital records, including validating metadata accuracy and completeness
- Assist in evaluating and improving filing structures, classification systems, and indexing (taxonomy)
- Support the coordination of secure disposal of records
- Provide guidance to employees on records management practices and procedures
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of digital records and information systems management policies,
standards, and guidelines
- Additional tasks may include digitization, filing, and supporting records preservation activities as required.
By the end of the project, the co-op student will gain experience in working with corporate records and archives, digital
records, and writing procedures.

- To qualify for a student Co-op opportunity, students must be enrolled in academic studies at a post-secondary institution in
Canada and must be returning to school after completion of their work term with BC Hydro.
