Outside Sales Representative

Position Overview
Uppal Building Supplies Ltd. is seeking a driven and relationship-focused Outside Sales Representative to support and grow our Nanaimo branch. This role is focused on intentional selling, market development, and strengthening relationships with contractors, builders, and developers across the region.
This is not an order-taking role. The successful candidate will be expected to actively prospect, manage a defined territory, and consistently be in front of customers generating new and existing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow a defined territory through regular face-to-face customer visits
- Prospect and onboard new contractor, builder, and commercial accounts
- Grow share of wallet within existing accounts through product knowledge and proactive selling
- Promote core and strategic product categories (envelope, siding, steel stud, insulation, fasteners, etc.)
- Prepare quotes, follow up on opportunities, and close business
- Work closely with inside sales, purchasing, and operations to ensure customer satisfaction
- Track customer activity, opportunities, and pipeline through company reporting tools
- Monitor competitor activity and report pricing or market intelligence
- Represent UBS professionally at job sites, customer offices, and industry events
Expectations & Performance Standards
- Consistent outside sales activity is mandatory
- When not in the field, the expectation is to be present at the Nanaimo branch supporting sales efforts
- Regular reporting on customer visits, opportunities, and pipeline
- Strong follow-up discipline and accountability
- A growth mindset focused on volume, margin, and long-term relationships
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of outside sales experience (building materials industry preferred)
- Strong understanding of the construction market on Vancouver Island is an asset
- Proven ability to develop new business and grow existing accounts
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working independently
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
