Position Overview
GRM Flow Products seeks a reliable and physically capable Part-Time Vent Builder / Painter to join our team. This position is ideal for someone looking for consistent, hands-on physical work in a shop environment with a flexible part-time schedule.
The successful candidate will assist with the fabrication, assembly, preparation, and painting of industrial vent products used in the oil and gas industry. Previous experience is an asset; however, training can be provided to the right candidate with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble metal vent components and products according to specifications.
- Use basic hand and power tools to build and assemble industrial vents.
- Prepare vent surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and completing other required preparation work.
- Apply primers, industrial coatings, and paint using spray guns, brushes, rollers, and other appropriate equipment.
- Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are met and identify defects such as runs, uneven coverage, or surface imperfections.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with other shop, production, or general labour duties as required.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on position. The successful candidate must be able to:
- Lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Stand and perform physical work for the duration of a 4-hour shift.
- Bend, reach, crouch, and perform repetitive movements as required.
- Safely use hand and power tools.
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including respiratory and other protective equipment where applicable.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, oilfield services, construction, carpentry, automotive painting, or a similar hands-on environment is considered an asset.
- Experience with industrial painting or surface preparation is an asset.
- Comfortable using basic hand tools, power tools, and measuring tapes.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions and safety procedures.
- Reliable transportation is required, as public transit service is not available to the shop location.
