How You'll Perform the Role
The Sr. Press Operator will take direction from the Supervisor and will ensure efficient shift operations in the Press Department through effective Leadership and the use of safety and quality policies and procedures to achieve maximum efficiencies in a good working environment through the effective use of the workforce.
- Continually develop Press Operators, Press Associates, Slitter Operators and Lamination Operator skill sets
- Maintain open lines of communications with your crew, Department Supervisor and other Lead Hands
- Ensure that the daily production schedules are followed and reports are completed,
- Ensure that finished product is packaged, labeled and recorded as per specifications
- Notify the Department Supervisor of any quality, scheduling conflicts, production shortages, docket discrepancies, or other issues that may affect customer delivery dates
- Through scheduled quality inspections, ensure that quality standards are maintained at all times
- Assist in the set up of printing presses to ensure optimal quality and efficiencies are met
- Trouble shoot the process as required
- Ensure that safety standards are met and maintained at all times
- Ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed at all times
- Follow all good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements,
- Adhere to all Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity,
- Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
What We Need From You
- Eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
- 3 - 5 years experience in flexible packaging printing operating an 8 colour or more printing press
- Prior leadership responsibility
- Must be fluent in english - read, write and speaking
- Reliable attendance
- Ability to work a rotating 12 hour Continental shift
- Work overtime as required
- Must work as a team player and show initiative in learning new tasks. Always approach any job in a healthy and safe manner
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Ability perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.
- The commitment to stay safe and to continue to learn and develop.
- Satisfactorily completes training courses as determined by management.
