Steel River Solutions is seeking an experienced Field Health and Safety Advisor for upcoming projects in Northern Alberta (location to be determined).

Key Job Duties

Ensure the effective implementation of the Steel River Safety Management System
Implement, coach and inform employees of Steel River Safety Policies through regular site visits, safety meetings, and tailgate attendance
Assess project compliance with the applicable safety codes, procedures, relevant documentation, and commitments
Perform site inspections, audits and assist with investigations
Audit initiatives to ensure that newly identified risks, hazards or behaviors are effectively managed
Assist Construction Managers, Project Managers and Superintendents in ensuring compliance at the work location
Perform site inspections as per the Health & Safety Manual schedule
Work directly with a team of safety professionals to successfully contribute to ensuring regular site inspections, coaching, and development of a culture where safety is a key value
Communicate any significant issues or concerns with the Project Safety Lead for direction
Effectively plan, organize, communicate, and monitor progress on tasks and projects as they relate to Safety
Maintain all documentation requirements as outlined in the Site Specific Safety Plan
Communicate any significant issues or concerns with the Project Safety Lead for direction
Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Experience Required

National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), Occupational Health & Safety Certificate or other industry recognized training; and/or combination of education and relevant experience
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a safety related position in the oil & gas pipeline construction industry
Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Acts, Regulations and Codes (Alberta and British Columbia) and how it pertains to daily field tasks
Ability to read and understand relevant documentation pertaining to the successful and safe completion of each project (legislation, and other industry specific standards/practices)
Proven understanding of the effective management of incidents and near hits
Familiarity with relevant construction codes, standards and practices
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills towards the generation of solutions and sound decisions
Optimistic/collaborative approach and attitude towards work with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Excellent communication skills: written and verbal skills, listening skills, organization abilities, proven attention to detail, and ability to develop good working relationships with inside and outside organizations

Working Conditions

This position is field based and often works within remote project locations. Travel and/or living in temporary accommodations will be required. Location to be determined.
