The Production Planner plays a key role in coordinating manufacturing activities by balancing customer demand, production capacity, and material availability. This position develops and maintains production schedules, monitors workflow, and collaborates across departments to ensure products are manufactured efficiently and delivered on time.
Success in this role requires strong analytical abilities, sound decision-making, and the ability to adapt quickly as production priorities change.
Pay: $48,000-$51,000/year
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production schedules that align customer requirements with available manufacturing capacity.
- Coordinate the release and sequencing of work orders to support efficient production flow.
- Review production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address changing demand, equipment constraints, or material shortages.
- Work closely with Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Customer Service to resolve planning issues and maintain schedule performance.
- Maintain the accuracy of planning information within the ERP system, including item data, bills of materials, routings, lead times, and planning parameters.
- Monitor inventory levels and recommend actions that support material availability while minimizing excess inventory.
- Analyze production and planning data to identify trends, improve schedule adherence, and support operational decision-making.
- Prepare planning reports and performance metrics to communicate schedule status and operational risks.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance production planning processes, system accuracy, and overall operational efficiency.
- Support inventory counts, audits, and other supply chain initiatives as required.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain coordination within a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and production planning principles.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and production workflows.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Professional supply chain certifications (such as APICS/ASCM CPIM) are considered an asset.
