POSITION SUMMARY
The Prep Cook / Dishwasher is responsible for supporting kitchen operations through food preparation, dishwashing, cleaning, sanitation, and general kitchen maintenance. This position ensures that kitchen staff have the tools, equipment, and ingredients necessary to provide quality meals to residents while maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.
The Prep Cook / Dishwasher plays a vital role in ensuring efficient kitchen operations and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare ingredients according to recipes and production sheets.
- Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion food items as directed.
- Operate dishwashing equipment and manually wash kitchen utensils and equipment when required.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas.
- Follow Public Health regulations and food safety procedures.
- Assist cooks and chefs with meal preparation and service.
- Properly store food items and rotate stock using FIFO procedures.
- Receive and put away deliveries.
- Dispose of waste and recycling according to facility procedures.
- Report maintenance concerns or safety hazards to supervisors.
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies.
TYPICAL TASKS
- Prepare vegetables, salads, desserts, sandwiches, and simple menu items.
- Portion ingredients according to recipes and production requirements.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, serving utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Clean and sanitize workstations, floors, walls, refrigerators, and storage areas.
- Refill supplies and stock kitchen stations.
- Assist with meal plating and tray preparation.
- Remove garbage and recycling throughout the shift.
- Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries.
- Maintain chemical and sanitation standards.
- Support special events and catering functions as required.
- Complete assigned cleaning schedules.
- Work cooperatively with all members of the culinary team.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Maintain Food Handler Certification where required.
- Participate in workplace safety and sanitation training.
- Develop culinary skills through on-the-job learning and training opportunities.
- Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn new responsibilities.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Exposure to hot water, cleaning chemicals, kitchen equipment, and wet floors.
- Frequent lifting of supplies and equipment up to 40 lbs.
- Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and time management.
- Weekend and holiday shifts will be required.

Pay: $17.85-$18.00 per hour
