Micro Station Designer BIM Modeler
Job Summary:
Our office in Toronto, Ontario is looking for a BIM Modeler to assist with designing buildings and providing technical support to our structural projects in areas such as Life Sciences, Tech, Civic, Education, Mixed-use, and Healthcare.
Responsibilities:
Design & Production (MicroStation)
- Develop and maintain detailed 2D construction drawings and 3D models for mixed infrastructure projects — including transportation, civil, and rail & transit — using Bentley MicroStation and associated tools as needed.
- Assist engineers in the development of drawing sets, plans, and details across general infrastructure and rail & transit projects, interpreting sketches and redlines to produce accurate construction documentation in accordance with project and client standards.
- Apply and manage design files, reference files, cell libraries, and seed files following established CAD standards and project workspace configurations.
- Perform quality checks on own deliverables and assist in peer reviews, maintaining drawing and design standards across project phases.
- Manage personal workload across concurrent projects, communicating progress and flagging issues to project leads while adhering to company CAD standards, naming conventions, and file management protocols.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of drawing templates, standard details, and production workflows across infrastructure disciplines.
BIM & Autodesk Revit
- Support the development of structural BIM models using Autodesk Revit as the primary authoring tool, working closely with engineers to produce accurate drawing sets, including framing plans, foundation layouts, and structural details.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the BIM scope, participating in Kick-off meetings and applying BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) to ensure work aligns with project standards and collaboration procedures.
- Assist in the management of digital deliverables, supporting engineers during detail development and contributing to model quality and timely submissions across project phases.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or degree in Civil, Structural, or Infrastructure Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in CAD production and design support within infrastructure, civil, or rail & transit projects.
- Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation as a primary production tool, with demonstrated ability to manage design files, references, and workspace configurations in a project environment.
- Working knowledge of structural drafting conventions and experience assisting engineers with construction documentation, including interpretation of redlines and engineering sketches.
- Exposure to Autodesk Revit in a structural BIM context, with a willingness to grow into a more active BIM production role.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows, including BIM Execution Plans and model coordination processes, is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to manage multiple project assignments simultaneously, maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality, coordinated construction documentation.
- Effective communicator and collaborative team player, comfortable working within multidisciplinary project teams.
- AutoCAD proficiency is considered an additional asset.
