Drillware’s first product to market was the Piercepoint Through-The-Bit Plug in 2020. We have completed numerous engineering projects in the diamond drilling industry and operate a rental fleet of centrifuges optimized for diamond drilling.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
The Mechanical Designer is responsible for assisting with design improvements for diamond drills and support equipment used in field operations, as well as the project management process for new Research and Development (R&D) projects. The Mechanical Designer will work with the operations management team and the end users to try to identify and overcome equipment functionality issues with a goal of safer, more reliable, ergonomically acceptable and more productive drill and support equipment. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Works closely with the General Manager to undertake R&D work to improve equipment used for drilling.
- Operates computer-assisted design software to develop and prepare engineered drawings for R&D projects from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.
- Works with the shop to develop/update drawings for diamond drills and support equipment.
- Writes technical reports including fatigue reports on structures, reports for the General Manager and project status updates for meetings.
- Verifies and validates engineered drawings by testing protocols and analyzing statistical data.
- Reviews any areas of weakness or failure in existing equipment and suggests design improvements.
- Performs structural analysis on drilling equipment such as drill masts, stingers, saddles, foot clamp bases, drill bases and other related equipment.
- Accurately completes project cost analysis by collecting cost information from the appropriate department.
- Visits the field to collect feedback, evaluates and tests R&D Projects.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
- 1-3 years of engineering experience, working in a shop and/or R&D environment is considered an asset.
- Post-Secondary Diploma in Engineering Technology.
- P. Eng. designation or working towards designation.
- Advanced CAD and Solidworks skills.
- Advanced computer skills in word processing, email, and the internet.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, and make repairs to a wide range of equipment. Shop experience is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, creativity and the ability to work in a team environment are required.
- Welding ability is considered an asset.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and must provide a current Driver’s Abstract annually.
- Required online training.
- Other training as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position is based out of the branch location Saskatoon, SK. Relocation is necessary if you are not located in Saskatoon, SK.
- Relocation assistance is available.
- Standard working hours are 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday to Friday.
- Office and shop work environment with visits to the field as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.60-$38.75 per hour
