Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks to transport goods between locations, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure proper functioning and safety standards are met
- Load and unload cargo with care, utilizing heavy lifting techniques when necessary to handle freight securely
- Plan efficient routes to optimize delivery times and fuel usage, adjusting as needed for traffic or weather conditions
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and records of all trips and cargo movements
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered during transit
- Assist with warehouse duties such as loading or unloading when required, demonstrating physical stamina and teamwork
Experience
- Proven experience driving heavy trucks or commercial vehicles, with a valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in various work environments
- Familiarity with transportation regulations, safety protocols, and route planning tools
- Strong physical endurance to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and dispatchers
