Summary
Spectacokids is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic Summer Camp Volunteers to support our therapeutic summer camp programs. Volunteers play an important role in creating a safe, engaging, and positive experience for campers by assisting camp staff with activities, supervising children, and encouraging participation in daily programming.
In this role, you will support our team by engaging children in educational and recreational activities, helping to foster their development and confidence. This position is based at our local center, where your contribution will make a meaningful difference
This is an excellent opportunity for high school students, college/university students, or individuals interested in pursuing careers in education, psychology, child development, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, physiotherapy, applied behaviour analysis (ABA), social work, or recreation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing engaging activities tailored to children's individual needs.
- Support children during educational and recreational sessions.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants.
- Collaborate with therapists and staff to implement care plans.
- Encourage social interaction and skill development among children.
- Maintain a clean and organized activity space.
- Communicate effectively with children, families, and team members.
- Support the overall mission of providing personalized care to children with autism.
Qualifications
- Passion for working with children and supporting their development.
- Prior experience or interest in early childhood education or related fields is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, dependable, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Reliable, responsible, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Flexibility to adapt to different activities and needs.
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder or ABA therapy is beneficial but not required.
Volunteer Requirements
- Ability to commit to the summer camp schedule.
- Current Basic CPR certification (required).
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check (if required based on age and role).
