Plant Manager – Abbotsford
Position Summary:
Reporting to a respective VP, Operations, the Plant Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement across all aspects of manufacturing, logistics, quality and service to optimize plant performance. The Plant Manager is responsible for leading a team of people to exceed and deliver on key performance indicators for cost, safety and regulatory compliance, maintenance and engineering, environment, quality, and customer service.
Key Accountabilities:
- Strategically manage capacity to meet production requirements. Accountable for product yield, labour efficiency and overhead expenses;
- Foster a safe working environment, ensuring compliance to all OHS and environmental regulatory and corporate standards. Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance and manage development and implementation of preventative measures;
- Oversee effective application of QA programs and processes to ensure required product quality. Ensure programs and processes are current, functional and comply with company standards and government regulations;
- In coordination with Human Resources identify and develop the capability and skill set of plant leadership team to achieve business results. Manage performance and encourage development activities, providing feedback and guidance;
- Promote a collaborative labour relations environment, building positive relationships with Stewards and the Union representatives, and where applicable manage significant union issues;
- Oversee effective deployment of human resources throughout the plant and ensure the correct administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Requirements:
- Related Post Secondary Degree coupled with a minimum of 5 years plant or technical management experience preferably within the Food Processing industry;
- Diverse, cumulative knowledge acquired through comprehensive related experience, preferably overseeing 1 to 2 previous plant operations;
- Demonstrated people management and development capability and proven success in leading and inspiring teams to excel;
- Experience with continuous improvement principles and programs, including engagement in and implementation of these initiatives;
- Knowledge and/or experience in Continuous Improvement an asset;
- Well-developed communication skill and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels;
- Critical thinker with the ability to apply practices, develop and initiate action plans to meet deadlines and achieve results while respecting core corporate values;
- Strong business acumen coupled with an ability to translate business strategy into practical application;
- Collaborative leadership qualities with the ability to solicit advice from their team and the ability to take charge, show initiative and make sound business decisions;
- Ability to manage a 24/7 operation.
