Winpak Division is looking for a Maintenance Facilities Supervisor to oversee our building operations, security systems, utilities, and facility maintenance at our facility in Winnipeg, MB.
Reporting to the Maintenance Electrical and Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in coordinating facility services, managing contractors, supporting capital projects, and ensuring our building, grounds, and critical systems operate safely and efficiently. This position also participates in an on-call rotation to support facility emergencies and critical building systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Facilities Operations & Team Performance
- Provide leadership, coaching, and day-to-day direction to the General Utility, Power Engineering, and HVAC teams while fostering a safe, collaborative, and high-performing work environment.
- Supervise external service providers, including the plant cleaning contractor, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Winpak standards.
- Coordinate maintenance priorities, building repairs, and facility-related activities while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with internal departments to ensure facility services effectively support manufacturing operations.
Manage Building Systems, Security & Infrastructure
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of critical building systems, including HVAC, fire protection, life safety systems, access control, and security infrastructure.
- Administer Winpak's security systems, including card access, key management, surveillance requests, and security reporting while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Coordinate contractor activities, tender processes, and facility improvement projects to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support facility expansions, renovations, and capital projects by collaborating with engineering and operations teams.
Drive Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure facilities, utilities, and building systems remain compliant with health, safety, environmental, ISO, SQF, and CTPAT requirements.
- Monitor facility operating costs, analyze trends, and recommend improvements that enhance efficiency and maximize value.
- Prepare reports, project justifications, budgets, and documentation to support operational planning and continuous improvement.
- Respond to facility emergencies and critical building issues while participating in the on-call rotation to support plant operations.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience supporting facilities, building maintenance, or maintenance operations within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Previous experience leading teams in a formal or informal leadership role, with a demonstrated ability to coach, delegate, and develop employees.
- 3+ years of experience overseeing building systems such as HVAC, fire protection, security, utilities, or life safety systems.
- Experience coordinating contractors, managing multiple priorities, and supporting facility maintenance projects
- Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in a mechanical or electrical trade is considered an asset.
- Experience working within a unionized manufacturing environment and supporting compliance with ISO, SQF, or similar quality management systems.
- Knowledge of facility budgeting, contractor management, preventative maintenance programs, and continuous improvement practices.
