The Manitoba Securities Commission is seeking to fill a regular full-time Investigator position that specializes in investigations for the real estate, mortgage broker and property management industries. The Manitoba Securities Commission acts in the public interest to protect Manitobans and foster fairness and integrity in the securities and real estate marketplaces. The Manitoba Securities Commission conducts enforcement actions in cases where an investigation has found evidence of a possible violation of law or where activities appear to pose a risk to the public.

Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
Must be able to travel both inside and outside of Manitoba, including to various locations within Canada and the United States.
Must possess a valid Class 5 Manitoba Drivers license and be able to provide personal vehicle for ground travel within Manitoba
Must be able to work irregular hours, evenings and weekends, and be away from the office for several days if needed.

Qualifications:
Essential:
Experience conducting complex financial investigations within the real estate industry, and/or law enforcement or regulatory environment
Experience conducting complex interviews in a law enforcement or regulatory environment
Education or training in the investigation of financial crimes. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Sound analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Experience with complaint resolution with the ability to make recommendations
Superior organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with various stakeholders
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Excellent oral communication skills with experience delivering presentations to various audiences
Excellent written communication skills including experience writing reports and various types of correspondence
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Duties:
As part of the investigative and enforcement function of the Manitoba Securities Commission, the Investigator will primarily investigate complaints and allegations of violations of The Real Estate Brokers Act and The Mortgage Brokers Act. The incumbent will conduct interviews, obtain documentary evidence and prepare written reports of the evidence gathered to assist in the determination of whether enforcement action should be taken.
