Position: Deployment Planner & Logistics Coordinator
Position Reports To: Director, Logistics & Transportation
Position Overview
The Deployment Planner & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing inventory deployment, transportation, and logistics activities across the supply chain network. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective movement of products, materials, and inventory to support customer fulfillment, production requirements, and warehouse optimization. The position serves as a key liaison between sales, procurement, production, warehousing, transportation providers, third-party logistics partners (3PLs), and regulatory agencies to maintain high service levels, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities combine strategic deployment planning with hands-on transportation and logistics coordination to support business objectives and customer expectations
Key Responsibilities
Deployment Planning & Inventory Management
- Plan and coordinate inventory deployment, order allocation, and stock transfers across warehouses, production facilities, and customer channels to support service levels and optimize inventory utilization.
- Manage inventory balancing and network replenishment activities, including transfers supporting customer orders, production requirements, and warehouse capacity optimization.
Transportation & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation activities, including carrier selection, freight quoting, dispatching, shipment tracking, and delivery scheduling to ensure cost-effective and on-time service.
- Manage shipping schedules and logistics activities across company facilities and 3PL partners while ensuring effective communication among warehouses, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
Import, Compliance & Supply Chain Execution
- Facilitate inbound container management, shipping documentation, customs coordination, carrier communication, and regulatory compliance activities to ensure timely product availability and uninterrupted operations.
Operational Excellence & Issue Resolution
- Monitor order fulfillment, inventory movements, and transportation performance to proactively identify and resolve service risks, shipment delays, inventory discrepancies, and logistics exceptions.
- Serve as a key escalation point for logistics-related issues, leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to improve service and operational performance.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track and report key supply chain metrics, manage freight and storage invoice validation, and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on service, cost, inventory accuracy, and transportation efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Production, Inventory Control, Warehousing, Transportation providers, and 3PL partners to ensure accurate communication, effective execution, and achievement of business objectives.

Qualifications & Considerations for the Position
- College or secondary school diploma
- Certified in Logistics, Transportation & Distribution (CLTD), an asset
- Up to 3 years’ experience in the transportation and logistics industry, preferably in perishable goods
- Strong understanding of scheduling and the costs associated with FTL, LTL and Refrigerated transportation
- Fluent in English
- Organized self-starter with proven ability to co-ordinate and effectively follow up on multiple projects and assignments and meet all deadlines
- Experience in Lean Management Systems and processes an asset
- Excellent ability to plan, organize and prioritize with attention to detail and accuracy
- Proven ability to work under pressure, resolve problems, and meet tight deadlines
- Able to collect, maintain, evaluate data, summarize and write reports, and recommend continuous improvement
- Strong math skills to compute weight, cost and other variables
- Good oral, written and communication skills; able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders
- Proficient in computer software, such as inventory / traceability software, manufacturing software (MS Dynamics 365) and Microsoft Office (Excel)
- Team player with high integrity, values and a positive attitude and a sense of urgency
Salary range: $60,000 - $65,000
