Position Summary:
Our Education Manager leads a team to build and expand the capability of various stakeholders (e.g. employees) in support of safety services, business and process sustainability & improvement. As our Education Manager, you will develop and maintain effective partnerships with TSSA’s safety partners to create and promote flexible, safety-focused education and certification structures and systems in Ontario and other jurisdictions. You will manage a team that implements education standards, policies and procedures in support of TSSA’s public safety mandate as well as lead team and initiatives that support internal learning and development to support employee growth. In order to be effective, you will need planning and budgeting experience as well as managing training in both technical and corporate settings.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of trainers (learning specialists) to deliver effective achievement of objectives based on learning needs analysis and development/delivery of programs that are applied on the job (learning evaluation as applicable to job).
- Assess current and future training needs of internal/external stakeholders (i.e. Engineers, Inspectors, Supervisors, etc.), and develop strategies to address these.
- Coordinate with Internal/External training and examination providers to ensure successful and efficient delivery of training and examination to our regulated customers.
- Ensure that certification issues identified by customers and external stakeholders are addressed.
- Deliver education solution offerings across industry programs and ensure measurable effectiveness and efficiency in achieving its intended outcomes
- Provide leadership, advice, direction and interpretation of regulations and policies to a diverse set of stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of annual business plans and longer-term strategic plans with education insights & priorities.
- Follow TSSA’s health and safety policies and work practices and actively enhance the safety culture of the organization by demonstrating healthy and safe behaviour and promoting others to do the same.
Job Requirements:
- University/college degree or equivalent in an adult education, instructional design or business management environment
- At least ten years’ management/training and instruction design experience
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience analyzing company & customer needs, lesson planning, development & implementation
- Experience in developing training plans and materials
- Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously
- Strong understanding of business goals and standards for customer service
- Demonstrated project management and advanced level facilitation skills (PMP certification in an asset)
- Effective leadership and team-based problem-solving skills
