Position Overview
As an Obstetrics Registered Nurse with Augury Healthcare, you will provide specialized nursing care to mothers and newborns throughout the maternity care journey.
You will support patients during labour, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to promote safe and positive maternal-newborn outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Providing safe, competent, and compassionate nursing care in Obstetrics and Labour & Delivery settings
- Monitoring maternal and fetal health
- Performing maternal, fetal, newborn, and postpartum assessments
- Supporting patients and families throughout labour, delivery, recovery, and newborn care
- Administering medications and treatments according to professional standards
- Responding quickly and effectively to urgent or changing clinical situations
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Maintaining accurate and timely patient documentation
- Following facility policies, procedures, and professional practice standards
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers
Qualifications
Successful candidates must have:
- Current Registered Nurse license in Prince Edward Island or eligibility/willingness to obtain PEI registration
- Minimum 4–5 years of recent Perinatal Nursing experience
- Recent Labour & Delivery and Newborn Care experience
- Current BLS certification
- Strong experience in OBS, maternal-newborn care, or perinatal nursing
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced clinical environments
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
- Professional, reliable, and patient-focused approach to care
- Availability for a minimum 2-month contract commitment
Preferred Certifications
The following certifications are considered assets:
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- Fetal monitoring certification
- Additional maternal-newborn or emergency nursing certifications
