The Vanier Centre for Women, Ministry of the Solicitor General, seeks an experienced Receptionist/Mail Clerk to provide mail services for the institution.
In this role, you will:
- process all incoming mail by sorting into delivery locations or pre-determined categories;
- process outgoing mail by sorting, weighing and metering in preparation of delivery;
- process offender mail in accordance with ministry policy and directives;
- process courier deliveries, complete waybills, manifest and custom forms;
- perform a variety of administrative tasks;
- provide back up support to the Receptionist.
- You have knowledge of Canada Post products and services.
- You can use the postage machine and scale to weigh and affix correct postage.
- You can interpret and apply ministry policy and directives regarding offender mails.
- You can prioritize and organize tasks to ensure work is completed in a timely manner.
- You can identify incoming and outgoing mail for sorting by destination, method of delivery or other category (e.g., courier, etc.).
- You can ensure that mail is properly weighted, metered, folded and inserted into envelopes and sealed securely.
- You can determine the correct destination of incorrectly addressed mail.
- You can communicate effectively in person or by phone when providing information on mail and postage services.
- You can complete waybills and manifests for outgoing courier shipments.
- You can use tact and courtesy when dealing with staff on mail and courier related issues.
