CNC Mill Operator / Machinist
Position Summary
Autotube is a manufacturing company, trusted by the automotive industry for almost 50 years.
We are looking for a skilled CNC Mill Operator or Machinist with some programming ability to join our maintenance team located in Strathroy. The successful candidate will operate CNC mills and lathes, make program adjustments, and assist with setup and production of precision machined components. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable on the shop floor but also has hands-on machining experience and wants to continue developing their skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machines (mills, lathes and grinders) to produce precision components
- Make minor edits and adjustments to existing CNC programs (offsets, speeds, feeds, tool paths)
- Set up machines including tooling, fixtures, and work holding
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Inspect finished parts using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators)
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make real-time adjustments
- Support setup verification and first-off inspections
- Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping
- Follow all safety procedures and shop standards
Qualifications
- 2+ years of Mill machine operation experience preferred
- Experience with basic CNC programming or program editing at the machine
- Ability to read technical drawings and understand machining tolerances
- Familiarity with measuring tools and inspection processes
- Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to troubleshoot machining issues independently
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with mills, lathes, surface grinders
- Ability to problem solve and think outside the box
- Basic CAD knowledge
- Understanding of feeds, speeds, and tooling selection
