As a Registered Practical Nurse, your primary focus is delivering patient and family-centered care, while adhering to the scope of practice defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Implementing evidence-based nursing practices, and upholding the standards set by West Park Healthcare Centre. Working independently and collaboratively within an inter-professional care team, demonstrating professionalism and embodying the values of excellence, leadership, and empathy. - Diploma in Practical Nursing
- Current and valid Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Must be able to achieve 80% in the Functional Independent Measure (FIM) certification exam within the probationary period or within the trial period and on recertification exams if applying to work on any of the following rehabilitation units: 3C (Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation), 3D POD 1 (Amputee Rehabilitation), 2C (Neurological Rehabilitation), 1D (TB Rehabilitation) and 5D (Respiratory Rehabilitation)
- Recent related clinical experience preferred
- Ability to perform the essential clinical duties of the job
- Effective communication skills, problem-solving and decision-making and reliable work habits
- Effective problem recognition, problem solving and decision making skills
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development
- Demonstrated commitment to team success
- Resilience and effective coping strategies to manage change
- Demonstrated computer literacy in word processing and Electronic Patient Record
- Working knowledge of the College of Nurses of Ontario standards of practice
- Proven clinical experience with patient-focused care, including strong patient assessment, care planning, patient education and documentation skills.
- Proven organizational skills with an ability to manage workload effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to effectively address and resolve issues including conflict in a productive and respectful manner.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and adjust to new or unexpected events in practicing in accordance with the CNO’s Ethics Practice Standard.
- Practices in accordance with the CNO’s Confidentiality and Privacy-Personal Health Information Practice Standard and adheres to the policies and procedures of West Park Healthcare Centre.
- Proven attendance record.
- Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
- Experience with neurological populations (i.e. stroke, acquired brain injury) preferred.
